MEXICO CITY (AP) — Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum was thrilled to celebrate Fátima Bosch Fernández, who just won Miss Universe 2025. Sheinbaum praised Bosch as a strong role model for women everywhere.
Bosch’s victory followed a tense moment earlier in the competition when she was reprimanded by the Thai national director. After speaking up, she walked out, prompting other contestants to leave in support.
“I admire that she stood up for herself. This is an important example,” said Sheinbaum. “Women are beautiful when we voice our opinions and take part in decisions.”

According to a survey by the Miss Universe Organization, more than 80% of pageant participants now believe that these events should serve as a platform for social issues, not just beauty.
