Kier gained fame for his work in horror films, first breaking out with “Mark of the Devil” in 1970. He became an icon in the genre with memorable portrayals of Frankenstein in “Flesh for Frankenstein” and Dracula in “Blood for Dracula,” both produced by Andy Warhol. His American debut came in the 1991 classic “My Own Private Idaho,” featuring River Phoenix and Keanu Reeves.
