After hearing these comments, Garza reported them to his manager, J.D. Aupperle, on January 10. However, he claims Aupperle didn’t encourage him to take the matter to human resources. Just weeks later, Garza was suddenly let go from the company. The conversation was reportedly recorded, raising questions about the integrity of Campbell’s executive team.

In response, James Regan, a Campbell’s spokesperson, stated that the company was unaware of the recording before it aired publicly. He also emphasized that Bally is just one of many vice presidents, noting that his role focuses on IT, not food production. Campbell’s is currently investigating the situation, placing Bally on temporary leave. The company declared the alleged comments “unacceptable” and “patently absurd,” aiming to distance itself from the offensive remarks.

Adding another layer to this controversy, James Uthmeier, Florida’s Attorney General, announced via social media that the state’s Consumer Protection division is looking into the quality of Campbell’s products. This scrutiny comes amid a growing public interest in food quality, driven by increasing awareness of health and wellness.
