On November 24th, TC3 announced its plans for a new Associate of Science (A.S.) degree in Health Sciences, set to launch in Spring 2026. This program aims to equip students for careers in high-demand health fields like X-ray imaging, ultrasound, respiratory therapy, and radiation therapy.
Dr. Amy Kremenek, TC3’s president, highlighted the growing need for health professionals. “These are well-paying jobs with plenty of opportunities locally and across the country,” she explained. Many positions in healthcare require a bachelor’s degree, making TC3’s partnerships with institutions like SUNY Upstate Medical, SUNY Cortland, and Alfred University crucial for students. Graduates will have clear pathways to advanced degrees and fulfilling careers.
Students in the Health Science program can smoothly transfer to SUNY Upstate for further education in Respiratory Therapy, Medical Imaging, Radiology, or Radiation Therapy. Alternatively, graduates can continue their studies in Community Health at SUNY Cortland or Sports and Health Sciences at Alfred University.
The enthusiasm doesn’t stop at the college level. Local employers are already expressing interest, recognizing the need for skilled graduates in these essential fields. A survey by the Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts that jobs in these areas will grow significantly in the next decade, indicating stability and opportunity for new professionals.
This response to workforce needs not only benefits future graduates but also strengthens community health services. TC3’s initiative is a proactive step toward addressing the current and future demands of healthcare.
