Mizzou Football Coach Eliah Drinkwitz Signs New Contract
Mizzou Athletics recently announced that Head Football Coach Eliah Drinkwitz has signed a new six-year contract worth an average of $10.75 million annually. This deal, approved unanimously by the University of Missouri Board of Curators, extends through the 2031 season.
“My family and I are excited to continue our journey here in Columbia,” Drinkwitz said. He expressed gratitude for the support from university leaders, donors, and fans as he looks to build Mizzou into a championship team.
Since taking over in 2019, Drinkwitz has transformed Mizzou into a competitive powerhouse. As the Tigers head into their regular-season finale against Arkansas, they boast a record of 28 wins in their last 37 games. Drinkwitz has led the team to bowl game qualifications for six straight seasons, a notable achievement.
Drinkwitz’s coaching success is reflected in his 21-5 record over the current seasons. He made history by becoming only the second coach at Mizzou to secure back-to-back seasons with ten or more wins. If the Tigers win two more games this season, they will reach 30 wins over three seasons for just the third time in the school’s history.
Athletics Director Laird Veatch praised Drinkwitz for elevating the standards at Mizzou Football. The program has experienced an unprecedented 20-game home sellout streak, indicating strong fan support. The Memorial Stadium Centennial Project, costing $250 million, is set to enhance the stadium further in 2026.
From 2020 to 2025, Drinkwitz has coached 16 players who earned all-conference honors. This includes ten first-team All-SEC selections and 17 players who have been drafted into the NFL. Ahmad Hardy, a standout running back, leads the nation in rushing and is a finalist for the prestigious Doak Walker Award.
Missouri is also witnessing a wave of support on social media. Fans are sharing their excitement and pride in the football program, highlighting the positive impact Drinkwitz has had on team culture.
As he embarks on this new chapter, Drinkwitz’s leadership seems pivotal for Mizzou’s future. University President Mun Choi remarked on his commitment to excellence that unites the community and state.
In a competitive Southeastern Conference, providing the necessary resources is crucial. The new contract signals the university’s commitment to supporting Drinkwitz’s vision and driving the team forward.
While fans eagerly await the upcoming season, many are already joining the waitlist for 2026 season tickets. The enthusiasm for Mizzou Football has never been higher.
