Imran Khan Health Update: Family and Supporters Voice Concerns Amid Growing Social Media Rumors

Pakistan’s social media has been buzzing with various rumors about former Prime Minister Imran Khan. Some people believe he has been moved from Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi, while others fear he may have died in custody.

The uncertainty grew after Khan’s sister, Aleema Khan, spoke out. She revealed she hadn’t heard from him for three weeks and was denied visits, even though a court had ordered she should be allowed to meet him. This lack of communication has stirred public concern.

Members of Khan’s political party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), organized protests outside the jail on November 27-28. They demanded access for his family, lawyers, and medical personnel, as prescribed by the courts.

In light of the swirling rumors, prison officials claimed that Khan is in good health and is receiving all provided services according to both prison rules and court orders. However, his son, Kasim Khan, shared his worries online. He mentioned that for six weeks, his father has been in solitary confinement, with no contact with family or proof of life.

Khan has been imprisoned for over two years, following a conviction related to a £190 million (around $232 million) case. Despite the protests, PTI members were not allowed any visits during the designated times.

Interestingly, many rumors about Khan, including alarming reports about his possible death, seem to be originating from accounts based in India or Afghanistan. This raises questions about the credibility of these sources, as interest in Khan’s fate is high beyond Pakistan’s borders.

PTI has called on the government to clarify Khan’s condition. In a statement released on social media, they emphasized the need for a formal declaration regarding his health status and demanded action against those spreading misleading information.

Zalmay Khalilzad, a former U.S. diplomat, also voiced concerns. He noted, “I am surprised by how the authorities are handling this. The most popular political party in Pakistan, along with his family, deserves to know Imran Khan’s condition.” His remarks reflect the importance of transparency in such critical matters.

As of now, the situation remains tense. Khan’s supporters continue to voice their concerns on social media, amplifying calls for clear communication from the authorities. The need for accountability and honesty in the political landscape is more crucial than ever.
