Chandigarh, Nov 29 — Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini spoke at the Aatmanirbhar Bharat Conference in Panchkula, emphasizing that the vision for a self-reliant India is more than just a slogan. He believes it is a commitment to making India a major economic player by the 21st century.
Saini highlighted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s goal for India to become a developed nation by 2047 and to achieve a five-trillion-dollar economy by 2030. He noted that Aatmanirbhar Bharat focuses on self-reliance in various sectors such as industry, agriculture, education, and technology.
The Chief Minister described the five key pillars of this initiative: Economy, Infrastructure, System, Demography, and Demand. He stressed that Haryana is crucial in bolstering these areas, calling it the “Growth Engine of India.”
On agriculture, he pointed out how Haryana has been instrumental in achieving food self-sufficiency and is now promoting the cultivation of pulses and oilseeds. In the industrial sector, the “Haryana Aatmanirbhar Portal” is helping connect entrepreneurs with government schemes.
With over 12 lakh MSMEs (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises) employing around 65 lakh people, the state has provided significant assistance, roughly ₹400 crore, to ease business operations. Efforts to improve infrastructure include the “Padma Programme,” which develops industrial facilities at the block level.
Over the last 11 years, 7.66 lakh MSMEs have been set up, creating more than 39 lakh jobs. Saini explained that the focus on demographic factors aims to empower youth to become job creators rather than just job seekers.
Following the launch of the Haryana Startup Policy 2022, more than 9,500 startups have emerged in the state, with recent support of ₹1.14 crore going to 22 of them.
The initiative isn’t just about economic growth; it reflects a broader shift in mindset, aiming for a self-sufficient and prosperous India. As Saini puts it, this journey won’t just transform economies but also inspire communities.
