Metroid Prime 4: Beyond has finally arrived! After 18 long years since Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, fans are eager to dive back into Samus Aran’s universe. In this new installment, Samus has some exciting new abilities, including her trusty bike, the Vi-O-La.
But there’s a twist. If you want extra ambient music while riding through the sandy landscapes of planet Viewros, you’ll need to spend $30 or get a Samus Amiibo. When players scan the Amiibo, they can unlock the Vi-O-La Radio. This feature allows them to choose music from different areas to enhance their adventure. Completing the game also gives you access to two bonus tracks!
Interestingly, while the regular ambient sounds of Sol Valley are engaging, some fans are frustrated about having to pay for what feels like a basic feature. Many believe it should have been part of the game from the start.
The Amiibo system doesn’t stop there. The Vi-O-La Amiibo unlocks unique skin options for the bike. Meanwhile, the Sylux Amiibo opens up extended cutscenes once you finish the game, although keen players can unlock these cutscenes by achieving 100% scanning in the game.
To give some context, the Metroid series has a rich history. It started back in 1986 and became a defining part of gaming culture. As of late, the excitement around the franchise has only grown, especially with the advancements in gaming technology.
Recent surveys show that 60% of gamers aged 18-35 are interested in nostalgic game reboots, making the return of Metroid a notable event in gaming.
With Metroid Prime 4: Beyond launched for the Nintendo Switch and Switch 2, fans can now enjoy the revived saga of Samus Aran. If you want to delve deeper into the game mechanics and design, check out GameSpot’s Metroid Prime 4 review here.
