The National Green Tribunal (NGT) is hosting the Regional Conference on Environment – 2025 in Chennai on December 6 and 7, 2025. Led by Mr. Justice Prakash Shrivastava, this conference aims to address pressing environmental issues in southern India.
Mr. Justice M.M. Sundresh from the Supreme Court will inaugurate the event. Other notable guests include Supreme Court Judges and Tamil Nadu government officials. The gathering will bring together judges, environmental specialists, and community leaders to discuss solutions for sustainable development.
Inspired by Mahatma Gandhi’s words, “Earth provides enough to satisfy every man’s needs, but not every man’s greed,” the conference will tackle three main topics through technical sessions:
- Environmental Law Enforcement and Biodiversity Conservation
- Solid Waste and Biomedical Waste Management
- Challenges in Protecting Coastal Zones
Each session is designed to spark discussions on how regulatory authorities can enhance environmental protection.
A notable statistic to consider: According to a recent UN report, approximately 13 million tons of plastic enter the oceans each year. This emphasizes the urgency of such conferences that seek solutions for waste management and environmental protection.
The event will wrap up with a Valedictory Session featuring awards for significant contributions to environmental efforts, highlighting the importance of individual and collective responsibility toward nature.
As communities increasingly turn to social media for advocacy, there’s a growing trend of awareness around environmental issues, especially among younger generations. Platforms like Twitter and Instagram are buzzing with campaigns and hashtags focused on climate change and conservation efforts.
Overall, the Regional Conference on Environment – 2025 is not just a gathering of experts; it’s a call for unity in addressing environmental challenges that affect us all.
