Controversy Strikes: How AI Accusations Led to the Untimely Demise of a Promising PS5 and PS4 Game

This week, the game *Postal: Bullet Paradise* was announced. It’s a new title similar to *Vampire Survivors*, aiming to revamp the long-standing *Postal* series. But just two days later, it was canceled. The reason? An overwhelmingly negative reaction from players, mainly due to concerns over the use of generative AI in its development.

The announcement trailer raised eyebrows, with many feeling that the voice acting and artwork were too artificial. Published by Running with Scissors and developed by Goonswarm Games, the backlash was swift, forcing the publisher to pull the plug entirely.

Vince Desi, founder of Running with Scissors, stated: “We’ve been overwhelmed with negative responses from our concerned *Postal* Community. The feedback indicates many elements of the game are likely AI-generated, damaging our brand. Our trust in the development team is broken; therefore, we’ve killed the project.”

Desi emphasized their commitment to transparency and the importance of listening to their fans, promising future projects in 2026 and beyond.

The debate about generative AI in gaming is growing. This year alone, titles like *Call of Duty: Black Ops 7* and *ARC Raiders* have faced scrutiny for similar reasons. Players are increasingly wary of AI’s role, fearing it may compromise the quality of their favorite games.

Surveys show that 65% of gamers are concerned about how AI affects creativity in game development. Critics argue that while AI can enhance production speed, it risks stripping away the unique touch human developers bring to their work.

What do you think? Was it wise for Running with Scissors to cancel *Postal: Bullet Paradise* after the backlash? Share your thoughts with us!
