OpenAI has kicked off a major campaign in India to roll out ChatGPT across multiple platforms. This marks a significant step in their dedication to creating AI solutions tailored for Indian users.
The campaign highlights options like Study Mode for students and a budget-friendly ChatGPT Go subscription. The focus is on making AI accessible in local languages and cultural contexts.
At the center of this initiative are two films directed by Bharat Sikka, a well-known Indian photographer and filmmaker. These stories show how ordinary people use ChatGPT to improve their lives—whether that’s preparing for job interviews or enhancing their creativity. The films will be available in seven languages: Bengali, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Tamil, and Telugu. This approach ensures that users can interact with the technology in the language they are most comfortable with.
Sheeladitya Mohanty, OpenAI’s Head of Marketing in India, emphasized, “We believe that accessing AI tools shouldn’t require changing your primary language. Our aim is to make ChatGPT feel natural and culturally relevant.”
Since November, ChatGPT Go has been available for free for one year to eligible users who sign up during a limited promotional period, available on web, Android, and iOS.
This campaign isn’t just about marketing; it reflects a larger trend of personalization in technology. Surveys have shown that consumers prefer products that resonate with their cultural and linguistic identities.
