Experience the Speed: Vande Bharat Launches Exclusive 3-Day New Delhi-Udhampur Service!

Vande Bharat Train Service for Stranded Passengers

Jammu: To support passengers stranded due to flight cancellations, Northern Railways has announced a special Vande Bharat train from New Delhi to Udhampur. This service will run for three days, starting December 12.

Air travel disruptions primarily due to UniGo flight cancellations have left many passengers frustrated at Srinagar and Jammu airports. As a result, some have protested, seeking solutions to their travel woes.

Railway officials noted that, during emergencies, they often operate special trains to ensure passenger safety and convenience. This new service is part of that initiative, aiming to ease the pressure on those affected by the flight disruptions.

Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Uchit Singhal explained that the trains—02439 from New Delhi and 02440 from Udhampur—will run with three trips each way between December 12 and 14. Train No. 02439 will leave New Delhi at 6 a.m. and reach Udhampur by 2 p.m., stopping at key stations like Ambala Cantt and Jammu Tawi. The return train will depart Udhampur at 3 p.m. and arrive in New Delhi by 11 p.m.

The special Vande Bharat service will consist of 20 coaches, providing a safe and affordable travel option for stranded travelers. Passengers are advised to check real-time train schedules via the official Indian Railways website or the National Train Enquiry System (NTES) app.

In addition to this service, preparations for a direct train connection between Jammu and Kashmir Valley are underway, expected to launch by the year’s end.

A recent survey highlighted that 78% of travelers felt better opting for rail when facing air travel uncertainty. While Vande Bharat trains have gained popularity for their speed and comfort, this measure demonstrates the railway’s commitment to passenger needs during challenging times.
