KISS frontman Gene Simmons made waves during a recent interview with Scripps News anchor Maritsa Georgiou. After their discussion, Simmons threw in a surprise question: “By the way, are you still modeling?”
Georgiou seemed taken aback and clarified, “I don’t model, sir.” Simmons replied, “Oh, I assumed.” Despite the unexpected exchange, Georgiou maintained her composure, thanked him, and wrapped up the segment.
During the interview, Simmons also spoke about his support for the American Music Fairness Act (AMFA). This important bill seeks to ensure that musicians get paid when their songs are played on AM and FM radio. Simmons is set to testify in favor of the bill in Washington, D.C.
His visit to the capital coincided with the Kennedy Center Honors ceremony, where he and his KISS bandmates received accolades from President Trump. Many were curious how Simmons felt about receiving honors from someone he has criticized in the past. He explained, “Do I agree on all things? No. But I also disagree with my family on all sorts of things.”
Simmons also highlighted the importance of voting, encouraging people to express their opinions at the ballot box rather than just complaining about leadership.
Interestingly, amid the rise of social media, reactions to public figures like Simmons often trend online. Many fans and critics alike weighed in on his comments about both the AMFA and his interaction with Georgiou, which sparked conversations about music legislation and gender dynamics in media interviews.
The Kennedy Center Honors will air on December 23 on CBS.
