Jeff Garcia, widely recognized as the voice of Sheen Estevez from Nickelodeon’s Jimmy Neutron series, sadly passed away at the age of 50. His son Joseph shared the news on Instagram.
Family members told TMZ that Garcia died in Southern California after being taken off life support, following serious health complications over the past few months. The exact cause of death has not been released yet.
Born on May 3, 1975, in Irvine, CA, Garcia began his career in stand-up comedy in 1991. He performed at popular venues like the Laugh Factory before shifting to acting in 1995. His impressive career spanned many years, making a mark in both comedy and voice acting.
Garcia gained fame as Sheen in Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius (2001) and continued in follow-up series and movies, including Planet Sheen and Jimmy Neutron: Attack of the Twonkies (2005). His voice acting skills extended beyond that role. He featured in MTV’s Clone High and lent his voice to various characters like Tyler Nelson in The Maw and Pip in Barnyard and its spinoff, Back at the Barnyard.
In 2006, Garcia showcased his talent on Comedy Central Presents. He took on roles in animated films like Rio (2011) and its sequel, Rio 2. He also voiced characters in Happy Feet and its sequel.
Beyond animation, Garcia had roles in live-action shows such as Caroline in the City and Dangerous Minds. More recently, he portrayed Freddy Lopez in the sitcom Mr. Box Office in 2012. Just weeks before his death, he appeared on Byron Allen’s talk show Comics Unleashed.
Garcia leaves behind his son, Joseph, and his daughter, Savannah. Joseph’s heartfelt tribute on Instagram highlighted his father’s unique talent and impact on fans worldwide, saying, “He may be gone, but he will NEVER be forgotten.”
