Enhance Your Compassion: Join SSM Health at Home’s Hospice Volunteer Training and Grief Support Groups

MONROE — Become part of a caring team making a real difference in people’s lives. Hospice care focuses on helping patients with life-limiting illnesses live fully until the end. We provide support to those in need and their families, ensuring they have comfort and companionship.

Volunteers at SSM Health at Home play a vital role. They offer companionship to patients and give families a much-needed break. Plus, they can lend a hand in the office. We match volunteers with roles that fit their skills and interests, allowing them to make a meaningful impact.

Interested in volunteering? Join us on January 18 from 8:30-11:30 a.m. for a training session at our office: 1905 5th Street in Monroe. It’s a great opportunity to learn how you can help.

As a hospice volunteer, you can support patients and families, assist with office tasks, or even provide special services like pet therapy, massage, or beautician services. You can also help with vigils and share meals or comfort at the SSM Health Monroe Hospice Home. We even have a special program connecting veterans with patients who have served in the military, allowing them to share their experiences and support one another.

Grief Support Group in Monroe

Grieving can be a tough journey, but you don’t have to do it alone. SSM Health at Home offers “Walking Through Grief,” a six-week support group for those aged 18 and up who have lost a loved one. It’s a chance to share experiences, find understanding, and gain encouragement.

Sessions will take place on Wednesdays from 10-11:30 a.m., starting February 12 and running through March 19 at Monroe Engraving, located at 1005 30th Street in Monroe. We recommend attending all sessions, but there is no charge to join.
