TUCSON, Ariz. — Arizona’s freshman Brayden Burries shined, scoring 20 points in a dominating 96-62 victory against Abilene Christian. With this win, the Wildcats improved to an impressive 10-0, marking the first time since the 2010-11 season that they’ve secured five straight wins by at least 20 points.
Burries, at 6-foot-4, showcased his scoring ability, hitting 9 of 11 shots. Notably, he also scored a season-high 28 points in a recent game against Alabama. Another standout, 7-foot-2 Motiejus Krivas, contributed 15 points, going a perfect 4 for 4 from the field and making 7 of 8 free throws.
Six players for Arizona reached double digits in scoring. Ivan Kharchenkov added 11 points, while Jaden Bradley, Koa Peat, and Tobe Awaka chipped in 10 each. The team’s shooting was stellar, finishing at 66.7% overall.
Arizona currently holds the top spot in the nation, thanks to their undefeated streak, which includes impressive wins over teams like UConn, Florida, and Auburn. Historically, this is the seventh time the Wildcats have started a season 10-0.
Meanwhile, Abilene Christian, now 7-4, was led by Cbo Newton, who scored 17 points. The team struggled with fouls early on, committing 16 in the first half alone. This allowed Arizona to take advantage, converting 19 of 25 free throws (76%).
