Upon arrival, Modi was greeted by Oman’s Deputy Prime Minister for Defence Affairs, Sayyid Shihab bin Tarik Al Said. Members of the Indian diaspora joyfully welcomed him with chants like “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” and “Vande Mataram.”
As he arrived at his hotel, traditional performances brought the scene to life. Children dressed in colorful outfits danced the Rajasthani Ghoomar, showcasing Indian culture and pride. The enthusiasm was palpable, with many waving flags and celebrating Modi’s visit on social media.
Expert opinions highlight the importance of Indian communities abroad. According to a recent report from the Ministry of External Affairs, there are about 3.1 million Indians in Oman. Their significant role in the local economy and community life underscores the strong ties between the countries.
Modi’s official engagements began swiftly—he met Sayyid Shihab bin Tarik Al Said to discuss bilateral cooperation and regional security. The meeting aims to enhance ties between India and Oman.
