The Cardinals face another game without key players, left tackle Paris Johnson Jr. (knee) and safety Jalen Thompson (hamstring). Coach Jonathan Gannon made the announcement before Wednesday’s practice, paving the way for rookie Josh Fryar to step up as the starting tackle for the second time.
Since the team had only a walkthrough, practice designations are just estimates.
Good news for the wide receiver group: Marvin Harrison Jr. returned to practice after missing two games due to a heel injury. Gannon mentioned that Harrison felt “good,” and they’ll monitor his progress throughout the week. His addition would be a great boost, as the team mainly relies on Michael Wilson and recently signed Jalen Brooks as healthy receivers.
Several players, including cornerbacks Max Melton (heel) and Darren Hall (concussion), along with offensive linemen Kelvin Beachum and Evan Brown, and outside linebacker Josh Sweat, did not participate in the walkthrough.
Dadrion Taylor-Demerson made his return after missing five games due to an ankle injury, but he was limited in practice. Linebacker Cody Simon (knee/ankle) and wide receiver Xavier Weaver (hamstring) were also limited participants.
Defensive lineman L.J. Collier had his first full practice since his recovery window began. He could be activated to the 53-man roster by Saturday, as there is currently an open spot available.
In other updates, wide receiver Drake London, sidelined for the last four games with a PCL sprain, also returned to practice as a limited participant. His comeback could be crucial for the team in their upcoming games.
Staying healthy becomes increasingly important as the season progresses. A recent survey found that injury management and recovery processes are among the top concerns for NFL teams. Effective communication and rehabilitation strategies can help players return sooner and perform at their best. As the Cardinals navigate these challenges, fans are hopeful for swift recoveries and strong performances ahead.
