Patna: Passengers on Vande Bharat Express trains can now savor India’s diverse regional cuisine. The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) is rolling out local dishes on select routes, turning train journeys into flavorful experiences.
For example, on the Patna Junction–Ranchi Vande Bharat Express, travelers can enjoy Champaran Paneer. The Patna Junction–Howrah route features the popular Champaran Chicken. These dishes are known for their rich spices and traditional tastes.
But that’s not all! Across the country, Vande Bharat services are introducing a variety of regional foods. The Nagpur–Secunderabad route serves Maharashtrian Kanda Poha, and the South Indian Dondakaya Karam Podi Fry. From Andhra Pradesh, you can try Andhra Kodi Kura. The Gujarat route boasts Methi Thepla, while the SBIB–VRL train offers Masala Lauki.
On the 22895 Howrah–Puri Express, enjoy Aloo Phulkopi from Odisha. The CSMT–MAO train features Masala Upma, and West Bengal’s delight, Murghir Jhol, is served on the NJP–HWH route.
Railway officials state that this initiative goes beyond just good food; it aims to highlight India’s rich culinary and cultural diversity. It’s a great way for travelers to get a taste of local traditions while they ride.
According to a recent survey by the Indian National Restaurant Association, 70% of diners prefer authentic regional cuisine, reflecting a growing interest in local flavors across the country. This trend is especially visible on social media, where food enthusiasts eagerly share their culinary experiences.
By bringing these dishes on board, the Vande Bharat Express not only feeds its passengers but also connects them with India’s vast cultural tapestry, making each journey more than just a trip—it’s an adventure for the taste buds.
