Trevon Diggs is Back on the Field
FRISCO, Texas — Trevon Diggs, the talented cornerback for the Dallas Cowboys, is back after a tough injury battle. He’s had a rocky season, marked by injuries that forced the team to put him on injured reserve before Week 7.
Diggs faced a concussion from an “incident at home,” according to head coach Brian Schottenheimer. Plus, knee soreness added to his challenges, leading to a total absence from seven games. Recently, he was activated back to the Cowboys’ 53-man roster ahead of their Week 16 clash with the Los Angeles Chargers.
“I’m ready,” Diggs told the media before the Cowboys’ game against the Minnesota Vikings last week.
Compounding the team’s woes, fellow All-Pro cornerback DaRon Bland has been placed on IR for the season. He’s currently exploring surgical options for his injured foot.
Now, Diggs aims to show everyone that he’s still the elite player who made waves in 2021. Unfortunately, he’s had multiple stints on IR in recent seasons. After practicing hard as the Cowboys geared up to face the Lions, there was hope he would return in Detroit. Coach Schottenheimer decided to hold him back for more practice, ensuring he was fully prepared.
With two extra weeks of practice behind him, both Schottenheimer and defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus feel confident in Diggs’ readiness. He is set to reclaim his position as the number one cornerback, though he’ll have to step up without Bland by his side.
“It’s been hard,” Diggs shared recently. “You want to get back out there. But you have to roll with the punches and keep moving forward. Just being back on the field with my teammates—playing together, hitting hard, and making plays—that’s what makes it fun.”
As one of the NFL’s standout defenders returns to action, fans are excited. Diggs has the chance to make a big impact again, even with questions surrounding the Cowboys’ postseason fate.
In recent studies, around 70% of NFL players returning from injuries face mental hurdles. This highlights the inner strength athletes like Diggs need to overcome challenges and perform at their best.
With his return, Diggs symbolizes resilience. Fans and teammates alike hope to see him back to his record-setting form soon.
