Shooting Incident Involves San Antonio Police
A man is in the hospital and will likely face charges after a domestic violence situation escalated into a shooting involving a police officer in San Antonio, reported Police Chief William McManus.
The incident occurred around 2:30 p.m. Saturday near Southwest Military Drive and Interstate 35 South. Officers were dispatched to a home on Ann Arbor Street for a report of family violence. A woman informed the police that her partner was vandalizing her car. Their relationship status seems unclear.
After the woman called a co-worker for help, they drove to work together. The man followed them. At a turnaround on Southwest Military Drive, he rammed their vehicle, which led to an exchange of gunfire.
Police officers were on the scene. One officer returned fire at the man’s vehicle while the co-worker also fired shots. It’s not known if the man himself was armed.
The unidentified man sustained a shoulder injury and was taken to the hospital. Fortunately, his injuries are not life-threatening.
As of now, it is uncertain whose gunfire injured the man. No other injuries were reported. McManus mentioned that the man could face charges related to dating violence, among others.
This incident marks the 14th police-involved shooting in San Antonio this year, according to a recent analysis by KSAT Investigates.
