Graduating can be a huge milestone! The University College will honor its Bachelor of Applied Studies (BAS) and Bachelor of Liberal Studies (BLS) graduates at an in-person ceremony. They’ll celebrate alongside graduates from the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
The doors will open one hour before the ceremony starts, and guess what? No tickets are needed!
During the event, Dean Sara Sanders and Executive Vice President Kevin Kregel will present the degrees. It’s a proud moment for everyone involved.
Isa Holtze, from Olympia, Washington, has been chosen to speak at the ceremony. Graduating with high distinction, she will share her journey as she receives her degree in cinema.
For those who cannot attend, there’s also a virtual recognition event. Each spring, the University College hosts a virtual ceremony honoring its BAS and BLS graduates. More details about the upcoming virtual event in May 2026 can be found here: View Virtual Ceremony Information.
Nicole Osterman from Clarion, Iowa, will be the Fall 2025 student speaker at this virtual event, graduating with a BAS degree and a Certificate in Leadership Studies. The excitement is building as these students prepare to take the next step in their lives.
As graduation approaches, it’s great to see many graduates actively sharing their experiences on social media. Posts brimming with pride and joy highlight the hard work and dedication that got them here. Celebrating achievements collectively is what makes graduation so special.
In recent years, graduation rates have been on the rise, thanks in part to increased support programs for students. According to the National Center for Education Statistics, about 62% of students who started college in 2015 graduated within six years. This positive trend underlines the importance of supportive academic environments, making these ceremonies a testament to hard work and perseverance.
Graduation isn’t just a ceremony; it marks the beginning of new adventures and opportunities. It’s a time for reflection, excitement, and celebration with family and friends.
