Remembering Adelia ‘Ada’ Zeidler: George Clooney’s Sister and an Inspiring Legacy of Bravery at 65 (Exclusive Tribute)

George Clooney’s older sister, Adelia “Ada” Zeidler, passed away from cancer at 65 years old on December 19. George shared her bravery in facing cancer, saying, “She faced down cancer with courage and humor.” He added that he and Amal will miss her deeply.

Ada died peacefully at St. Elizabeth Healthcare, surrounded by loved ones. Born in Los Angeles on May 2, 1960, she was the daughter of journalist Nick Clooney and writer Nina Bruce Warren. Ada was a talented artist, serving as an elementary art teacher for years. Her passion for reading connected her with others in a local book club, and she was also a member of the Augusta Art Guild.

In 1987, Ada married Norman Zeidler, a retired army captain. The wedding was a community event in their small Kentucky hometown, emphasizing the closeness of their family and friends. George played a special role in the ceremony, reading scripture, while their aunt, Rosemary Clooney, sang for the couple.

Despite her private nature, Ada made notable appearances, such as at George’s wedding to Amal in Venice in 2014. Her love for art and community involvement illustrated her vibrant spirit.

Recently, there has been a growing conversation on social media about how loved ones support each other in times of illness. Many have shared personal stories similar to George’s tribute, reflecting on the strength and humor of family members facing health challenges.

Ada is survived by her children, Nick Zeidler and Allison Zeidler Herolaga, as well as her brother George. A funeral is set for December 22, with memorial contributions suggested to the Knoedler Memorial Library in Augusta.
