Broncos Welcome Back Offensive Lineman Ben Powers
The Broncos have activated guard Ben Powers from injured reserve, marking a significant boost to their lineup. This move comes just in time for their game against the Jaguars on Sunday.
Powers had been sidelined due to a bicep injury he sustained in Week 5 during a match against the Eagles. He has been a reliable player, starting 39 straight games since joining the team in 2023. Head Coach Sean Payton noted the importance of easing Powers back into action: “There’s always that transition period. We won’t rush him into a full load right away.”
In addition to Powers, the Broncos also promoted quarterback Sam Ehlinger and safety Delarrin Turner-Yell from the practice squad for the upcoming game. Ehlinger is familiar with the team dynamics, having previously been brought up in Week 15. Turner-Yell, who has played in 30 games for the Broncos, will add depth to the safety position.
To bolster their roster further, the team signed guard Calvin Throckmorton to the practice squad after he was waived earlier in the week.
Looking ahead, the game against the Jaguars is set for 2:05 PM MT on FOX. This matchup will be crucial for both teams as they vie for playoff positioning. With Powers back, fans are optimistic that the team’s offensive line will perform at a higher level.
As the Broncos make these key moves, it’s part of a larger trend in the NFL where teams are strategically managing player injuries. According to a recent survey by the NFL Players Association, nearly 75% of players believe that better injury management can significantly affect team performance.
With Powers back on the field, the Broncos’ chances of success could improve, potentially shifting the momentum in their favor as the season progresses.
