BROCKTON, MASS. — Catholic Charities South spread some holiday cheer in Brockton this week with the help of the new “Hunger Relief Fund.” This initiative aims to tackle food insecurity, especially crucial during these inflationary times.

Volunteers, including Mayor Sullivan, helped unload over 13,000 pounds of fresh produce for distribution across the city. This relief effort is part of the Hunger Relief Fund, which kicked off last month thanks to a $1 million donation from the Eastern Bank Foundation. This substantial fund will assist more than 15 local nonprofits, including Catholic Charities South, in boosting food supplies from the Greater Boston Food Bank.
Kelley Tuthill from Catholic Charities Boston noted the increased struggle for food security recently. “These past months have tested our community in ways reminiscent of the pandemic. When our neighbors are in need, we focus on how to help, not on why they are in this situation,” she explained.
