The Seattle Police Department recently made three arrests during a retail theft operation at University Village shopping center, a popular spot for holiday shopping. Two women, aged 28 and 34, were caught trying to steal items from Victoria’s Secret. Police found over $170 in stolen goods, along with a fixed-blade knife and brass knuckles on one of the women.
Later, the store’s loss prevention manager spotted two more suspects attempting to steal. One was arrested after fleeing through the parking lot, but the second suspect managed to escape with another $760 worth of stolen merchandise.
Shopper David Martin expressed his surprise at the thefts. “It’s a nice, high-end shopping center. You wouldn’t expect this here,” he remarked. His reaction reflects a growing concern among shoppers about safety in seemingly secure locations.
