CHEYENNE, Wyo. — The Cheyenne-Laramie County Health Department inspects various food establishments, including restaurants, bars, and grocery stores. Each facility gets at least two surprise inspections a year to ensure safety and hygiene.
Inspections identify two main types of violations: “red critical violations” and “black violations.” Critical violations are serious issues that could lead to foodborne illnesses, while non-critical violations are typically about cleanliness or maintenance.
The health department aims to get problems fixed right away. Critical violations should be corrected immediately or within 24 hours. Non-critical ones also need addressing but might wait until the next inspection for follow-up.
If a reinspection is needed, it likely means the problem was significant or required more time to resolve. Facilities typically have 10 days to fix these issues.
The department’s goal isn’t just to catch violations, but to educate businesses about safe practices. Just because a place has no violations doesn’t guarantee it’s completely safe; understanding how to maintain a safe environment is key.
For serious violations or notable comments, check the summary notes below. You can find complete reports for each restaurant on the health department’s website.
