Community Health Initiative in Cilincing: A Step Towards Preventing Stunting
In North Jakarta, Apical is taking meaningful strides to combat stunting by focusing on women’s health. Their effort, launched with PT Asianagro Agungjaya (PT AAJ), works closely with the Cilincing Community Health Centre (Puskesmas Cilincing) to provide essential health services aimed at women of reproductive age.
On December 15, 2025, this initiative kicked off at the RW 03, RW 09, and RW 10 community offices within the Cilincing public housing complex. The goal is simple yet impactful: raise awareness about health issues and improve access to services vital for building healthy families.
Sugiantoro, CSR Manager at Apical, emphasizes the importance of healthy women. He noted, “Healthy women are the backbone of strong families. By focusing on prevention rather than just treatment, we can create lasting change.”
One of the program’s core components is early detection of cervical cancer. Dr. Kezia Ivana from the Cilincing Community Health Centre shared that methods like IVA screening and HPV testing can catch cervical cancer early. “When we catch it in time, recovery chances are high. Untreated, it can lead to severe health issues, affecting women’s lives and fertility,” she explained.
This health initiative reflects Apical’s commitment to social responsibility, embedded in their approach known as the “5Cs”—Community, Country, Climate, Customer, and Company. By partnering with local stakeholders, the company aims to improve public health while addressing stunting concerns in their operational areas.
Interestingly, research shows that stunting remains a significant challenge. According to UNICEF, around 22% of children under five in Indonesia suffered from stunting as of 2022. Initiatives like Apical’s are crucial in tackling this public health issue.
Support for early health interventions is echoed by many experts who argue that investing in women’s health leads to enhanced economic productivity and stronger communities. This aligns with findings from the World Health Organization, which stated that improving maternal health contributes to healthier families and communities as a whole.
As Apical moves forward with its mission, it stands as a model for integrating corporate engagement with community needs, proving that businesses can play a crucial role in public health.
