NEW DELHI: Dr. S. Jaishankar, India’s external affairs minister, represented Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Donald Trump’s inauguration as the 47th President of the United States. He shared his feelings on social media, saying it was a privilege to be there for such a significant event.

Dr. Jaishankar posted photos from the ceremony, including one with other foreign ministers and another with Vivek Ramaswamy.
Before the inauguration, he took part in a traditional prayer service at St. John’s Church. This event is held before every presidential inauguration. Donald Trump and his wife, Melania, also attended the service, along with vice president-elect JD Vance and his wife. After this, outgoing President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill welcomed the Trumps to the White House.
Once the inauguration ceremony began, vice president-elect JD Vance took his oath of office, followed by Donald Trump’s swearing-in. After taking the oath, Trump delivered his inaugural address, marking the beginning of his presidency.
In a speech before the inauguration, Trump announced his plans to revoke several executive orders from the Biden administration, calling them “destructive and radical.” He assured the attendees at a dinner that these orders would be deemed “null and void” shortly after he took office.
