Discover the New University Hospitals Urgent Care Clinic in Broadview Heights: Your Healthier Future in a Thriving Three-Building Hub!

University Hospitals has opened a new urgent-care clinic in Broadview Heights, Ohio. This clinic is part of a larger development at the corner of Ohio 82 and Interstate 77. The complex, which covers 5 acres, will eventually include two more buildings: one for retail and possibly a quick-service restaurant.

The urgent care center, located at 9000 Treeworth Boulevard, occupies about 12,000 square feet. It is designed to treat non-life-threatening issues, like minor injuries and illnesses, and offers services such as X-rays and lab tests. Patients can visit without an appointment or schedule one online, making it a convenient option.

While the clinic opened on December 22, the development is still in progress. A 5,300-square-foot Chick-fil-A with a drive-thru is being built nearby.

The concept behind separating urgent care from hospital emergency rooms is to reduce congestion in hospitals. Paul Hinchey, Chief Operating Officer at University Hospitals, explained that this model provides affordable care for those without a primary doctor. It helps streamline the care process by allowing urgent situations to be handled quickly, keeping emergency rooms free for critical cases.

Back in 2015, University Hospitals launched an outpatient health center with emergency services at the northeast corner of Ohio 82 and I-77. That facility no longer offers urgent care; the services have shifted to the new clinic. The broader push to open urgent-care clinics is seen across the Northeast Ohio region, with University Hospitals now operating 25 locations.

In recent years, the urgency for such facilities has grown. A 2022 survey found that over 60% of people preferred urgent care clinics for minor health issues, illustrating a shift in how patients seek care.

Interestingly, past attempts to develop this area faced hurdles. There were proposals for other projects, including an office complex and a different three-building development, but they were ultimately not approved.

Partnerships with companies like WellStreet Urgent Care are also helping University Hospitals speed up the opening of new clinics while ensuring a high level of patient care. WellStreet specializes in helping medical groups effectively establish urgent care facilities.

The opening of this clinic not only meets urgent care needs but reflects a broader trend in healthcare towards more accessible, community-focused options.
