Pollen season is back! Starting Thursday, January 1, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. PST, Budew will take over Pokémon TCG Live. Get ready for fun log-in rewards, fresh animations, and more during the Budew Year event.
Last year, Budew made quite a splash in the game. With its popular attack, Itchy Pollen, it became the most-used move, racking up over 31 million uses! An impressive 951,000 of those moves ended in knockouts. Its popularity led to Budew being crafted over 425,000 times and being included in 1.9 million unique decks—making up 18% of all decks played in 2025!
To celebrate Budew’s success, players logging in during the event will receive special Budew-themed deck accessories and avatar items. The game will also feature a “Budew’s Pond” Battle Board, playful lobby music, and exciting visual effects for Itchy Pollen, showcasing our little champion.
The Itchy Pollen attack is great because it doesn’t require any Energy, allowing Budew to fit into almost any deck. If you want to explore new strategies, check out the Blooming Buddies Battle, the latest Trainer Trial. This event allows only common and uncommon Grass Pokémon in the Expanded format, so you can really dig deep and cultivate fresh ideas. Support cards, like those from the Bug Catching Set and Forest of Vitality, provide even more options for creativity.
