New Delhi, January 2 (ANI) — Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta recently kicked off the Delhi Shabdotsav 2026, emphasizing India’s rich culture and heritage. She spoke passionately about how India’s civilization has endured through challenges, asserting that the country remains strong despite past attacks on its identity.
“India is always in conversation with its history, present, and future,” Gupta said. “Though we’ve faced numerous difficulties, our roots have kept us standing.” She stressed the importance of staying connected to our vibrant past and sharing those cultural values with future generations.
The CM highlighted that both values and scientific knowledge are crucial. “Every Indian parent wonders how to connect their kids to our traditions in this modern age. We need to move forward while holding onto our roots,” she added.
Gupta also pointed out Delhi’s incredible diversity. “Delhi showcases the spirit of ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ (One India, Great India),” she said, celebrating festivals from various states with equal enthusiasm. Events like Chhath Pooja from Bihar and Ganesh Chaturthi from Maharashtra are celebrated vibrantly in the city.
In a subtle criticism aimed at political opponents, Gupta remarked on leaders who speak negatively about India while abroad. “Those who disparage our country do not understand its essence,” she stated.
The Delhi Shabdotsav 2026 runs from January 2 to 4 at the National Stadium, focusing on India’s cultural and literary consciousness. Events like these are vital for fostering a sense of community and understanding in a diverse nation.
It’s noteworthy that events celebrating cultural heritage can have a significant impact on national identity. Recent studies indicate that participation in cultural events can enhance social cohesion and promote a greater understanding of different traditions within communities.
According to a survey by the National Council of Applied Economic Research, 78% of participants in cultural festivals reported feeling more connected to their cultural roots, emphasizing the importance of such gatherings in a rapidly modernizing society.
By nurturing our cultural values and celebrating our diversity, we can ensure that the essence of India remains vibrant and relevant for generations to come.
