BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The SOKY Patriots have teamed up with Feeding America to tackle child hunger in Bowling Green. Their weekly food program ensures that no child goes hungry.
Since 2020, this partnership has provided food bags to students facing food insecurity in the Warren County Public Schools and Bowling Green Independent School District. Each week, they prepare bags based on items students prefer, ensuring the food is easy to cook or snack on.
In 2025 alone, they distributed over 100,000 food bags and boxes. Most of the items and funds came from generous community donations. This program has significantly grown, increasing from around 400 bags per week to more than 1,000.
Tim Allen, the executive director of SOKY Patriots, highlights the importance of this initiative: “They need a good education, and no kid can think properly if they’re hungry. Our bags help them through the weekend when they might lack access to food.”
On January 10, SOKY Patriots will host their first fundraiser of the year at Sam’s Club in Bowling Green. For those interested in helping, donations can be made here.
