Indian Railways is set to unveil the Vande Bharat Sleeper train, a significant upgrade in rail travel, connecting Howrah and New Delhi. This semi-high-speed train will reach speeds of up to 180 km/h and will feature the advanced Kavach system for improved safety.
The new train is a sight to behold with its sleek orange and grey design. It’s spacious, featuring 16 coaches, including 11 three-tier AC, 4 two-tier AC, and 1 first-class AC coach, accommodating around 823 passengers. Each coach will be equipped with CCTV cameras for enhanced security.
### Ticket Prices
The fares are designed to be affordable, with the Third AC ticket costing ₹2,300 (including a meal), the Second AC for ₹3,000, and the First AC for ₹3,600.
### Dining Experience
One standout feature of the Vande Bharat Sleeper train is its dining options. Passengers traveling from Guwahati can enjoy authentic Assamese cuisine, while those boarding from Kolkata will be treated to traditional Bengali dishes, creating a delightful culinary experience onboard.
### Safety Features
Safety is a priority. The train includes ergonomically designed berths and emergency talk-back units for direct communication with onboard personnel during emergencies.
Recently, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw inspected the train, signaling that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate it soon. This launch is part of a broader trend in Indian railways to modernize services, aiming to enhance passenger experience.
In a 2023 survey, it was reported that over 70% of travelers prefer sleeper trains for long journeys due to their comfort and affordability. This new train could set a standard for future developments in rail travel across the country.
