Inside India’s First Vande Bharat Sleeper Train: Ashwini Vaishnaw’s Exclusive Inspection

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw recently visited New Delhi Railway Station to check out India’s first Vande Bharat Sleeper Train. This innovative train promises to change the way we travel long distances overnight.

During the visit, Vaishnaw examined the sleeper coaches, looking closely at the seating, sleeping arrangements, and safety features. The train has also been designed to maximize passenger comfort, with modern interiors and advanced amenities.

One standout feature is the KAVACH safety system, which enhances security on board. The train also boasts automatic doors, improved fire safety measures, and comprehensive CCTV coverage in all coaches. Notably, the updated design of the toilets aims to ensure better hygiene, showing Indian Railways’ commitment to cleanliness.

The Vande Bharat Sleeper Train will operate between Guwahati in Assam and Howrah in West Bengal, with the Prime Minister set to flag it off in January. This 16-coach train includes 11 AC three-tier, four AC two-tier, and one AC first-class coach, accommodating around 823 passengers.

Passengers can look forward to region-specific meals during their journeys. Trains leaving from Guwahati will serve authentic Assamese dishes, while those starting in Kolkata will offer traditional Bengali cuisine. This adds a delightful cultural touch to the travel experience.

With a design speed of up to 180 km/h, the semi-high-speed Vande Bharat Sleeper Train combines swift journeys with modern comforts, reflecting Indian Railways’ push for innovation in passenger services.

Recent statistics show that passenger train travel in India has been growing steadily, with more people opting for train journeys for various reasons, including affordability and comfort. Experts suggest that advancements like the Vande Bharat Sleeper Train will attract even more travelers, thus boosting the economy and tourism.

This train is a significant step forward in railway transport, blending speed, safety, and cultural experience into one unforgettable journey.
