The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) has launched the Nigerian Content Research, Innovation, and Technology Challenge for 2025/2026. This initiative invites individuals, research institutions, and industry suppliers to propose innovative solutions for the oil and gas sector. Key Areas of Focus

The competition centers on several critical themes:

  • Geological and Geophysical Studies: Innovations should address exploration techniques, big data applications, and real-time data processing.

  • Local Materials Substitution Studies: Proposals must explore sustainable materials for environmental remediation and technologies for liquefied natural gas (LNG).

  • Technology Development: Focus on new technologies, including the Internet of Things in exploration, and refining processes for condensates.

  • Health, Safety, and Environmental Studies: Ideas should target carbon capture and hydrogen production technologies, aiming to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

  • Engineering Studies: Solutions should enhance oil recovery and improve refinery efficiency, including advancements in drilling and laboratory technology.

  • Renewable Energy: Innovations in solar, wind, and energy storage technologies are encouraged.

Submission Details

Proposals can be up to 1,500 words. Interested parties must send their submissions to info@tiic.com.ng within a month of the announcement. Each proposal should include:

  1. Company/institution name
  2. Thematic area
  3. Title of innovation
  4. Description of innovation
  5. Objective, vision, and mission
  6. Team structure
  7. Funding model and budget estimate
  8. Marketing plan
  9. Risk analysis

Competition Process

In the first round, 30 proposals will be selected for mentorship. This support will help refine ideas. The competition will then narrow down to 10, and eventually to 5 finalists. These final teams will present their innovative solutions to venture capitalists.

Winners will receive cash prizes, mentorship, and media exposure. Additionally, the top 10 will gain entry into the NCDMB’s Technology Innovation and Incubation Centre for further development of their ideas.
