The Food Bank of Northern Indiana is hosting two Mobile Food Distributions in La Porte County this January.
The first event takes place on Wednesday, January 7th, from 10 AM to noon at the La Porte County Fairgrounds, located at 2581 State Road 2. The second distribution is on Wednesday, January 21st, at the Rolling Prairie United Methodist Church on US Highway 20, also from 10 AM to noon.
These events are first-come, first-served. Each family can receive one box of food while supplies last. On January 7th, the fairgrounds will assist 300 households, while the church event will provide food for 150 families.
At these distributions, participants can expect a variety of pre-boxed and pre-bagged food items. They’re designed as drive-through events, so please stay in your vehicles. You’ll simply need to open your trunk for easy loading, but there will be a spot available for self-loading if your trunk doesn’t work.
These valuable events are made possible by Citizens Concerned for the Homeless, a reminder of community support during tough times.
In recent studies, food insecurity remains a pressing issue. According to a 2023 report from the USDA, around 10.5% of American households faced difficulty securing enough food at some point in the previous year. Events like these are critical in assisting families in need.
