Motorola is stepping up its game with the new Moto Tag 2, set to release later this year. This updated tracker promises longer battery life and improved tracking features through the Android Find Hub app.
The original Moto Tag made waves in 2024 as the first real alternative to Apple’s AirTag for Android users, boasting Ultra-Wideband (UWB) technology. A year later, the Moto Tag has proven to be a solid option for keeping track of your belongings.
Moto Tag 2 retains the same shape as its predecessor, so it fits into most accessories designed for AirTags. One handy feature is a button that helps you locate your phone or can double as a remote shutter when you use the Moto Tag app.
What’s new in this version? First off, it now supports Bluetooth 6.0 with “Channel Sounding,” which enhances tracking capability. However, only smartphones equipped with Bluetooth 6.0 and running Android 16 can benefit from this feature, meaning some older models won’t be supported.
Another exciting update is the battery life, which now lasts up to 500 days with the same coin cell battery. That’s a significant upgrade from the previous model’s one-year battery. The Moto Tag 2 also offers better protection with an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance, compared to the IP67 rating of the original.
