During the last game of the regular season against Washington, Jurgens and most of the offensive line took the opportunity to rest. He believes that time off has been beneficial. “Without the wear and tear from playing, you recover faster,” he explained. “The rest was great, and I think that helps everyone.”
Another boost for the line is the return of right tackle Lane Johnson, who practiced in a limited role after being sidelined with a foot injury for over a month. Jurgens joked that if their offensive line were a band, Johnson would be the lead guitarist. “Lane would be the guy in the back, shirt off, showing off those abs,” he laughed. “It’s great to have him back.”
Looking ahead to their matchup with the 49ers, Jurgens knows the team will face tough challenges. “They’ve got a unique way of attacking the line,” he said. “Communication is key because they often run confusing plays that can throw us off.”
This is especially important given the 49ers’ recent defensive strategies.
