Women often don’t grasp the true meaning of a healthy lifestyle until they look in the mirror and see a tired face with wrinkles and dull skin. Madam Eka, a 55-year-old woman, shared her thoughts with The Guardian about how women can age overnight.
A health expert noted that many factors contribute to how quickly women age. Physical, emotional, hormonal, and genetic issues all play a role. However, lifestyle choices and stress can speed up this process. “People often talk about healthy food, and that’s important, but stress is a major factor,” Eka explained. She pointed out that women often juggle multiple responsibilities—jobs, families, and more—which adds to their stress levels.
Scientifically, women’s bodies are different from men’s. Stress can take a heavier toll on women, leading to faster aging. Eka emphasized that stress affects not just appearance but also physical health. It can disrupt menstrual cycles and alter hormone levels.
Interestingly, research from the American Psychological Association shows that women report feeling more stress than men, due in part to societal pressures. According to a 2022 survey, 61% of women said they felt overwhelmed by their responsibilities, compared to 49% of men. This highlights how societal expectations can lead to increased stress.
The recent harsh critiques of Nigerian singer Tiwa Savage on social media illustrate this issue. Many people rushed to judge her looks and age. Eka remarked, “No woman should participate in that kind of unkindness. Tiwa is a hard worker who has given so much to her craft and to Nigeria. It’s not easy to maintain that level of success without sacrifices.” Tiwa Savage is among Africa’s top artists, but her hard work means making tough choices that can impact her health and appearance.
