Matt Ryan Takes the Helm: Announced as New President of Football Operations!

ATLANTA – The Atlanta Falcons have appointed Matt Ryan, former NFL MVP, and CBS Sports Analyst, as their new President of Football. This change marks an exciting chapter for the franchise.

Ryan steps into this role immediately. He will oversee all aspects of the football operations, working closely with Falcons President and CEO Greg Beadles. The team is currently looking for a new head coach and general manager, who will report to Ryan.

Arthur Blank, the Falcons’ owner, expressed confidence in Ryan’s abilities. He praised Ryan’s leadership and deep understanding of the game, stating, “Matt’s qualities will be a tremendous benefit to our organization.” With his experience, Ryan is expected to help shape a championship-caliber team for Atlanta’s passionate fans.

Ryan has a rich background, playing for 14 seasons with the Falcons and later serving as an analyst at CBS. He has a deep understanding of both the game and how successful organizations function. Over his career, he not only excelled on the field but also demonstrated a keen insight into the game’s dynamics.

After accepting the position, Ryan shared his gratitude. “It feels great to be home,” he said. He is dedicated to building a strong future for the Falcons and their supporters. His time spent leading the Falcons to five playoff appearances, including a Super Bowl, has prepared him well for this new challenge.

Ryan’s impressive record includes holding franchise marks for passing yards, touchdowns, and several single-season records. He was drafted third overall in 2008 and quickly distinguished himself as a leading player. His standout season in 2016 earned him the NFL MVP award, a significant honor in his career.

Beyond statistics, Ryan aims to build a culture of accountability and resilience within the Falcons. He stressed the importance of setting clear expectations and staying disciplined to achieve short- and long-term success.

His impact goes beyond football. Ryan was actively involved in community service, recognized for his efforts with Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. He and his wife have worked hard to address systemic challenges facing Black youth through their ATL: Advance the Lives initiative, which has raised over $1.3 million to create meaningful changes in the community.

As Ryan embarks on this new journey, he acknowledges the challenges ahead but is eager to harness his experience as both a player and a leader. “I know what it takes to succeed in this role,” he said. “This is not a new table; it’s just a new seat.” With his commitment to the Falcons and their community, Ryan is prepared to make this role impactful and meaningful.
