Exciting New Italian Street Food Experience: Piada Set to Launch in Greater San Antonio Area in 2026!

Piada Italian Street Food is gearing up to make its debut in the Greater San Antonio area early this year. They’ll open their first location at Huebner Oaks Center, located at 11745 I-Hwy 10 West, Suite 501. Reports suggest a second spot will follow at Scherz Station on 18430 I-35 N.

Construction for the Huebner Oaks location is set to kick off at the end of this month, with plans to complete it by March 2026. Both venues should welcome diners by spring.

Piada focuses on fast-casual dining inspired by the traditional piadina flatbread from Italy. Founder Chris Doody brought this concept to the U.S. after visiting street food markets around 2008. The first Piada restaurant opened in Columbus, Ohio, in 2010, featuring fresh, customizable wraps and bowls.

“We believe in eating well even when we need to eat fast,” their website states. They emphasize using simple, fresh ingredients, with chefs greeting customers personally.

Currently, Piada operates nearly 70 locations across seven states, with a strong presence in Ohio and Texas. Texas alone boasts 19 locations. Their open kitchen design allows customers to watch as meals are prepared, making the dining experience interactive and enjoyable.

While specific opening dates have yet to be announced, the Huebner Oaks Center is on track for a March 2026 launch, and Scherz Station is expected to open shortly thereafter. This expansion reflects the growing trend of fast-casual dining, which has gained popularity, especially among younger consumers looking for quality meals on the go.

As the market evolves, many similar establishments are finding success by blending authentic cuisines with quick service. This shift could also be a response to changing dietary preferences, with more diners seeking fresh and customizable options that fit their lifestyles.

Stay tuned for more updates as Piada brings its unique flavor to San Antonio!
