OMAHA, Neb. – A trial has begun in the case of a major hospital in Omaha, which is being sued over the death of Aundrea Milnes in 2022.

On the morning of November 3, 2022, 47-year-old Aundrea was brought to CHI Health after experiencing lower abdominal pain. After assessment, a doctor diagnosed her with menstrual cramps and suggested she leave. However, Aundrea felt otherwise.
According to her family, she was in severe pain and refused to leave the hospital. About 25 minutes later, she was found at a different entrance, still in agony and lying on the ground.
In a troubling turn of events, the hospital staff called the police. Officers took her into custody for trespassing and booked her into Douglas County Corrections.
Tragically, Aundrea died later that same day while in custody. Her family’s attorney stated she suffered from complications related to an abdominal and intestinal condition.
A year after her passing, a grand jury found no wrongdoing by the police. Both the hospital staff and the medical professionals involved maintain they did nothing wrong, claiming they provided an appropriate standard of care and refuting the details of her injuries.
The jury trial is set to last about a week. Updates will follow as the case unfolds.
