Experience the Future of Train Travel in India: Introducing the First Vande Bharat Sleeper Train!

New Delhi

Indian Railways is set to launch its first Vande Bharat Sleeper train connecting Guwahati and Kolkata later this month. This new service will enhance overnight travel between Northeast and Eastern India. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off the train from Malda, West Bengal, on January 17, marking a significant step in long-distance travel.

This train will feature an egalitarian ticketing policy. There will be no VIP quotas, ensuring that everyone has equal access to the service. Only confirmed tickets will be issued, getting rid of the Reservation Against Cancellation (RAC) system. This aims to minimize waiting lists and guarantee full comfort for each passenger.

Passengers can look forward to upgraded amenities. The train will provide modern bedrolls, local cuisine, and staff who reflect Indian culture through their uniforms and services. Consistent rules across all classes will ensure a similar experience for everyone on board.

With 11 coaches, the train offers 611 berths in 3 AC, 188 in 2 AC, and 24 in 1 AC, totaling 823 berths. Key features include ergonomic berths with added cushioning, automatic doors, and a system to minimize noise. Safety is a priority, with the Kavach anti-collision system and advanced sanitation measures in place.

According to recent surveys, people are excited about the improvements in railway travel. Over 72% of travelers feel more comfortable knowing there will be higher safety standards and better amenities. This shift could lead to increased train usage as a preferred mode of transportation among Indian citizens.

In comparing the railway system today to its state a decade ago, we see remarkable advancements. In the past, long-distance train journeys were often uncomfortable and facilities were lacking. Today’s focus on comfort and safety reflects a significant change in priorities for Indian Railways.

As travel trends evolve, the need for efficient and enjoyable transport options becomes all the more critical. The introduction of this sleeper train resonates with a growing desire for quality travel experiences in India.
