FC Cincinnati has made an exciting move by signing forward Kristian Fletcher. The young player joins the Orange and Blue on a contract that runs until the end of the 2026 season, with options extending through the 2027-28 MLS seasons.
In a strategic deal, FC Cincinnati also acquired D.C. United’s right of first refusal for Fletcher. This was done by paying $50,000 in 2027 General Allocation Money (GAM), with the potential for an additional $200,000 based on his future performance. D.C. United retains a percentage of any future transfer, indicating their belief in Fletcher’s potential.
At just 20 years old, Fletcher has already gained valuable experience. He signed with D.C. United as a Homegrown Player in 2023 after previously spending two seasons with Loudoun United in the USL Championship. There, he impressively scored four goals in 17 games before making his MLS debut on August 31, 2022, against New York City FC. In total, he has played 28 matches for D.C. United, contributing two goals and two assists.
Fletcher also sought experience abroad, spending time on loan in England. He played for Nottingham Forest and Swansea City, primarily with their U21 teams. In his short time there, he made 11 appearances in the Premier League 2, scoring three goals. His performance helped Nottingham Forest U21 advance to the quarterfinals of the 2024-25 Premier League Cup, showcasing his ability to shine in crucial matches.
Chris Albright, General Manager of FC Cincinnati, expressed optimism about Fletcher, highlighting his scoring ability and experience despite his young age. “We’re excited to welcome him to Cincinnati,” Albright noted, indicating the club’s belief that the player will thrive in their environment.
