HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers secured an exciting 85-83 win against Marshall on Wednesday night. AJ Dancler and Joshua Beadle both scored 26 points, helping Coastal claim its first-ever road victory at Marshall’s Cam Henderson Center.
Coastal led by as much as 13 points in the second half. However, Marshall fought back to tie the game at 80-80 in the final minute. With just 34 seconds left, Nadjrick Peat made a crucial dunk, putting Coastal back in the lead. Head coach Justin Gray praised his players for stepping up when it mattered most, highlighting the big plays from Dancler, Beadle, and Rasheed Jones.
In the closing seconds, Beadle added two free throws to extend the lead to 84-80. Marshall tried to rally with a three-pointer from Noah Otshudi, slicing the deficit to one point. Beadle then split a pair of free throws, giving Coastal an 85-83 advantage. Marshall’s last attempts fell short, sealing the win for Coastal.
Dancler and Beadle were impressive on the court. Dancler shot 8-of-11 and made three three-pointers, while Beadle went 9-of-15 from the floor. Coastal shot a remarkable 56.6% from the field for the game, including 15-of-17 from the free-throw line.
Otshudi led Marshall with 30 points, supported by Jalen Speer with 24 points.
Coastal’s performance marked several milestones:
- This victory brought Coastal’s win total to 10, matching the entire previous season.
- They have now won five true road games this season, their highest since the 2021-22 season.
- The team is 4-1 when scoring 80 or more points, showcasing their offensive strength.
Both Dancler and Beadle are on fire, with Beadle reaching a new personal best in scoring for the second consecutive game. The duo’s combined points have consistently driven the team’s performance.
