Welcome to Oddball, the new cocktail bar in Alphabet City that’s shaking things up. Tucked away in the East Village, this spot is making waves for its unique cocktails and fresh food offerings that defy typical bar menus.
When we entered, we thought we’d grab a quick drink and leave, but we ended up planning our next visit!
Immersive Design
Oddball is the trademark of Danny Taylor, known for creating unforgettable spaces. This 1,100-square-foot cocktail bar is visually stunning and marks a leap in New York’s nightlife scene. The design draws influence from retro-futurism, 1970s style, and classic sci-fi, merging bold colors and textures to create an engaging atmosphere. From the rustic warmth of burl wood to the industrial edge of brushed aluminum, each material is thoughtfully chosen to enhance the experience.
The layout is well thought out, featuring cozy booths that allow for easy conversation while maximizing space. Plus, the creative lighting and sound design ensure a lively but comfortable vibe, making it the perfect place for a night out.
Cocktail Creativity
In a city full of cocktail bars, Oddball stands out with inventive drink offerings. One highlight is the Phantom Limb cocktail, which balances complexity with accessibility. The mixologists here are clearly passionate and knowledgeable, crafting cocktails that are both fresh and well-curated.
Food That Impressed
The food menu is small, focusing on quality over quantity. Each dish is carefully crafted. The Seed Goddess Salad bursts with texture and flavor, while the Braised Pork Congee is a true standout. This dish beautifully combines jasmine rice and Alubia Blanca beans, topped with tender pork and a spicy drizzle. It’s a unique comfort food experience that leaves a lasting impression.
Oddball doesn’t just impress in drinks; it redefines expectations for bar food. Under the guidance of Beverage Director Logan Rodriguez and his talented team, the cocktails and the food work in harmony, creating a full dining experience.
Oddball isn’t just another bar in Alphabet City; it’s a hidden gem worth discovering. The design is captivating without being overdone, the cocktails are fun yet accessible, and the food? It’s the real cherry on top. If you’re in the East Village, make sure to check it out. You won’t be disappointed.
