FORT WORTH, Texas — Hunter Dickinson led the Kansas Jayhawks with 16 points in a 74-61 win against TCU on Wednesday night. The Jayhawks turned things around after falling behind by 14 points in the first half.
AJ Storr stepped up in the second half, scoring 10 of his 12 points after halftime. His big stepback jumper with 11:30 left put Kansas ahead for good. This shot came after two tough turnovers, sparking a 14-2 run that included another jumper from Storr.
Zeke Mayo and Shakeel Moore added 13 and 11 points, respectively. Freshman Flory Bidunga also made an impact with 10 points, 10 rebounds, and four blocked shots, marking his first career double-double.
Noah Reynolds was the top scorer for TCU with 14 points. Vasean Allette and Brendan Wenzel contributed with 13 and 11 points, respectively. The team has struggled lately, alternating wins and losses over the past eight games.
Kansas managed to even the score just before halftime thanks to Mayo’s jumper, which tied the game at 33. The Jayhawks now sit at 14-4 and are ranked 12th, their lowest position this season.
TCU missed a chance to secure a second consecutive victory against a Top 25 team, following their win against No. 25 Baylor just a few days earlier.
A tense moment in the game came when Dickinson and TCU forward Trazarien White tangled for an offensive rebound. Both players received technical fouls after the officials reviewed the play. This led to White scoring on an alley-oop dunk from Reynolds, putting TCU ahead 48-47, their last lead of the game with just over 12 minutes remaining.
In the closing moments, TCU struggled offensively, missing their last six shots and only scoring two free throws in the final 3:37.
Looking ahead, Kansas will host No. 7 Houston on Saturday, while TCU will visit UCF the same day.
