Yulee Choi Shines in Her Acting Debut: Inside the Family Comedy ‘Food Truck: Stolen Love…and Moo Deng’

Singer Yulee Choi isn’t just making waves in the music world; she’s stepping into acting too. Her debut is in the lighthearted film “Food Truck: Stolen Love…and Moo Deng,” starring alongside a quirky pygmy hippo that went viral after birth in 2024.

Choi, who founded SRP Entertainment, expressed her excitement about acting at a recent screening event. “I love to learn,” she said. Her ability to speak Thai, a skill honed during her university years, helped her land this role. The film features popular Thai actor Mario Maurer, comedian Jack Fanchan, and rapper-actor Padung Songsang.

Her song “After the Rain,” released last year, adds emotional depth to the movie. “The song is about overcoming obstacles, just like life can be beautiful after a storm,” Choi explained.

Even though she didn’t share scenes with Moo Deng, the hippo plays a charming role in her story. Choi’s character is an actress on location with her son, who sneaks into the catering truck in search of his biological father. Hilarity ensues as the crew accidentally takes a detour to a zoo, where Moo Deng becomes an unexpected stowaway.

Choi hasn’t met the real Moo Deng yet, but she feels the hippo’s charm through the film. “It’s adorable!” she said. The script resonated with her own experience as a single mother, making her feel deeply connected to the character’s emotions.

Filming in Thailand presented a few challenges, especially with the weather. “There were sudden downpours and intense heat,” Choi recalled, laughing as she described her pre-shoot prayers for good weather.

With her busy music career, fans are left wondering if she’ll act again. “I hope so! I’d love to return whenever the opportunity arises,” Choi shared.

The film has sparked social media buzz, with many viewers sharing their love for both the hippo and Choi. As more families seek heartwarming content, “Food Truck” offers a fun blend of comedy and family values while capturing the magic of unexpected friendships and adventures.
