Hyundai has unveiled an exciting new all-electric camper van called the Staria Camper EV. It’s designed for off-grid adventures and features integrated solar panels, a kitchen, and smart tech for comfortable extended trips.
This camper was showcased shortly after Hyundai revealed the Staria Electric, its first fully electric MPV, at the CMT trade fair in Stuttgart, Germany. The camper has a driving range of up to 400 km (249 miles) and uses the same advanced technology as other Hyundai electric models like the IONIQ 5 and IONIQ 6. With an 800-volt platform, it can charge from 10% to 80% in just about 20 minutes!
The Staria Camper is not just about getting from point A to B. It features a pop-up roof that expands the living space and provides access to the kitchen. The camper also boasts a 520W solar panel, allowing it to generate enough energy to extend your trips into nature without worrying about charging. Hyundai estimates that, with five hours of sunlight daily, you can generate about 2.6 kWh daily!
For those longer stays, the camper is equipped with a 36-liter refrigerator, a portable showerhead, and a climate-control system. You’ll also find smart glass windows that you can adjust for privacy and UV protection through a touchscreen interface.
But will you be able to buy one? The Staria EV Camper is currently under evaluation, and Hyundai is assessing the feedback it receives. This means there’s no guarantee it will hit the market. Even more, it’s primarily targeted at European buyers, so those in the U.S. may not see it on their roads anytime soon.
User reactions seem mixed but optimistic. Many on social media are excited about the idea of eco-friendly camping but have questions about pricing and availability. With camper van culture booming, especially among younger generations seeking sustainable travel options, the interest might push Hyundai to move forward.
As electric vehicles grow in popularity, innovations like the Staria Camper could redefine how we travel and experience the outdoors. It’s a blend of luxury, practicality, and sustainability—a concept many are eager to see become reality.
This camper isn’t just a dream. It represents a shift in how we think about travel and adventure in an increasingly eco-conscious world. For the latest updates on Hyundai’s developments, you can check their official announcements here.
